Testimonial -  Chronic Neck Pain

Perry E. DDS
Chronic Neck Pain
I have been practicing dentistry for 31 years and the last 20 years have had moderate to severe pain in neck, shoulders and hips due to the stress of my profession on and off throughout my life. I have tried, massage, chiropractic, energy therapy, physiotherapy, anti-inflammatories, and you name it to get me out of pain.

I have invested 1000’s of dollars.

My wife scheduled me to discuss light therapy and try a free session on the NovoTHOR Light bed.  I was impressed with the science and the knowledge and enthusiasm for what this therapy could do for me. Even more impressive was this was an affordable therapy.

Already after a few sessions I started to feel relief.  14 sessions in, I have considerable relief of all my symptoms.  My wife asked me the other day how I was feeling as she had not heard me complain, moan when I rolled over in my sleep or groan when I get out of bed.  I estimated a 70% improvement and booked 4 more weeks to continue on this wonderful journey to health.
I also rode 70 miles in a recent Bike Festival and feel great….

A side benefit is I had a dry itchy spot in my ear which I have tried creams, etc to keep the itch away.  The itchiness and dryness is improved and I not longer put creams or much less think about it …

My wife says I’m looking younger too … increasing oxygen at the cellular level reduces the aging process …

I recommend the low level light therapy for whatever ails you.

Thanks to the team!!

Neck Pain and PBM Therapy

Your neck is made up of vertebrae that extend from the skull to the upper torso. Cervical discs absorb shock between the bones.

The bones, ligaments, and muscles of your neck support your head and allow for motion. Any abnormalities, inflammation, or injury can cause neck pain or stiffness.

Many people experience neck pain or stiffness occasionally. In many cases, it’s due to poor posture or overuse. Sometimes, neck pain is caused by injury from a fall, contact sports, or whiplash. Here at Texas Laser Therapy, we have had great success working with our clients to relieve their neck pain.

Most of the time, neck pain isn’t a serious condition and can be relieved within a few days, but in some cases, neck pain can indicate serious injury or illness and require immediate attention.

If you have neck pain that continues for more than a week, is severe, or is accompanied by other symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.

Causes of neck pain

Neck pain or stiffness can happen for a variety of reasons.

Muscle tension and strain

This is usually due to activities and behaviors such as:

  • poor posture

  • working at a desk for too long without changing position

  • sleeping with your neck in a bad position

  • jerking your neck during exercise

The neck is particularly vulnerable to injury, especially in falls, car accidents, and sports, where the muscles and ligaments of the neck are forced to move outside of their normal range.

If the neck bones (cervical vertebrae) are fractured, the spinal cord may also be damaged. Neck injury due to sudden jerking of the head is commonly called whiplash.

Other causes

Other causes include the following:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis causes pain, swelling of the joints, and bone spurs. When these occur in the neck area, neck pain can result.

  • Osteoporosis weakens bones and can lead to small fractures. This condition often happens in hands or knees, but it can also occur in the neck.

  • Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes muscle pain throughout the body, especially in the neck and shoulder region.

  • As you age, the cervical discs can degenerate. This is known as spondylosis, or osteoarthritis of the neck. This can narrow the space between the vertebrae. It also adds stress to your joints.

  • When a disk protrudes, as from a trauma or injury, it may add pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots. This is called a herniated cervical disc, also known as a ruptured or slipped disk.

  • Spinal stenosis occurs when the spinal column narrows and causes pressure on the spinal cord or the nerve roots as it exits the vertebrae. This can be due to long-term inflammation caused by arthritis or other conditions.

  • In rare instances, neck stiffness or pain occurs due to:

  • congenital abnormalities

  • infections

  • abscesses

  • tumors

  • cancer of the spine

When to see your doctor

If symptoms persist for more than a week, consult with your doctor. If you’ve been in an accident or fall and your neck hurts, seek medical care immediately. You should also see a doctor if you have:
severe neck pain without apparent cause

  • lump in your neck

  • high fever

  • severe headache

  • nausea

  • vomiting

  • swollen glands

  • trouble swallowing or breathing

  • weakness

  • numbness

  • tingling

  • pain that radiates down your arms or legs

  • inability to move your arms or hands

  • inability to touch your chin to your chest

  • bladder or bowel dysfunction

Here at Texas Laser Therapy we can help with your acute or chronic neck pain with the THOR LX2 Pain Pro.

Acute and chronic pain can in many cases be improved or eliminated through spot treatment with our Thor LX2.  Common conditions that often respond well to light therapy alone, without medication include neck pain, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, arthritis and carpal tunnel. All without pills or needles!

The THOR LX2 Pain Pro is a device that emits red and near-infrared (NIR) light, built to specifications supported through over 550 randomized clinical trials and more than 4000 laboratory studies.

Clinical trials with similar wavelengths and power densities have demonstrated:

  • Analgesia can be achieved with high power density lasers targeting the nerves at the spine, nerve roots, nerve plexuses, and along the course of the nerve.

  • Trigger Points can be deactivated with high power density lasers.

This therapy can be utilized in conjunction with NovoTHOR Whole Body Light Pod or as a stand alone therapy.  Many individuals will get their initial pain level reduced by one or several LX2 Pain Pro spot therapy sessions and then maintained at their own pace with NovoTHOR.

Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT) works in part by uncoupling certain ROS from the light-sensitive cytochromes in the mitochondria.  These ROS are impeding the ability to produce more cellular energy in the form of ATP by competitively binding where the necessary oxygen should bind in the cell, effectively stagnating the cell's ability to form ATP which is vital for cellular regeneration, repair and healing.  If PBMT can dislodge the ROS, then adding in oxygen during a PBMT session may support the cell's natural processes.
